Testimony shared at a show

1. I hope you enjoyed the show. Thank you to Faith Bible, Pastor Donnie, Ron, my wife and everyone involved in making this happen. 2. Can I tell you that it is a dream come true to get to use my passion of riding motorcycles as a platform to share the love of God through Jesus Christ. When I stand here, all I can do is thank the Lord for his mercy and kindness to bring me to this place. 3. He has brought me so far. I haven’t always had this passion to share the message of Jesus. I use to ride for my own selfish reasons. I wanted to be famous, I loved the attention I got from riding and the adrenaline rush that comes with performing dangerous feats. I use to try tricks that no one else wanted to, because, honestly I just liked all the attention. 4. On top of riding for those selfish reasons, I had a lot of junk in my life. I constantly used profanity, like it was an adjective. I had an anger problem. I struggled with different addictions, from sexual to substance abuse…my life was a mess. 5. Even though I grew up in a Christian home with solid values, went to a Christian private school for several years, and was a regular at church on Sundays, I was a fake. I was a hypocrite. 6. It wasn’t until after college, during my professional career as a stunt rider that I was confronted head-on with the truth of my reality. It took an atheist friend to point out my two-faced lifestyle. Through talking with him, I realized that my walk didn’t match up with what I claimed to believe about God. 7. That confrontation was the catalyst that led me to start searching for the truth about God. I found myself reading the Bible every night for a year…from cover to cover. At the same time, I was studying all kinds of amazing discoveries in science that make the creation account of life so much more believable than evolution. The more I studied, the more I began to stand in awe of who God is and what He has done. 8. Then I got to the gospels. As I read the eye-witness accounts of Jesus from the books of the New Testament, my heart began to burn. Jesus was fulfilling every ancient prophecy of the coming messiah. Everything he taught was so counter-cultural and so powerful. I began to hang on his every word. 9. But that wasn’t enough to seal my salvation. And I had been to church my whole life, and gone up to countless alter calls. But I still struggled severely with sin. All those alter calls had never altered my call. 10. But God wasn’t through with me. He allowed me to go through a dark place in my life. When I finally came to grips that nothing satisfied, not learning every trick on the bike, none of the relationships I’d been in, none of my friendships, none of the addictions, not my high paying job, absolutely none of the things in this world that appear so good were fulfilling to me. 11. Then I came across this verse in the Bible, 1 John 3:4-6 “Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.” As I read that verse I broke down in tears. God was revealing to me that I still didn’t have a real relationship with him. I was still living for myself. That night I came to the end of my old life. That night, I cried out to God in desperation. It wasn’t one of those superficial prayers that I had repeated so many times at the alter with zero change in my life. That night I cried out, “Jesus! I need you. I’m empty without you. Please change my life. Please take away this burden of sin in my heart. My life is in shambles. Only you can fix me. Please. I’ll live for you every day for the rest of my life. Please forgive me. I need you.” 12. That night, all the weight on my heart from my sinfulness just evaporated. He changed me totally. His love and forgiveness were tangible. It was the greatest love I had ever experienced before. Now those old things I use to struggle with, have lost their flavor. All I want now is to know God more and to live for Him. I hunger for his presence, I desire to study His word and pray. I want to help others, not just people I know, but the least fortunate in the world. Those who are dying of starvation, trapped in poverty, torn by war and treated as rubbish. 13. Now I have this burning passion to share the message of the cross of Jesus Christ with everyone. The more I reflect on the price he paid, and how he saved me from the disaster my life use to be, the more I want to share this amazing truth with others. 14. So what is this amazing truth? In other words, what is the gospel message? In a nutshell, all of humanity is fallen. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Mankind is radically depraved and Godhating. We have all rejected God and gone after our own selfish desires at some point in our lives. We are all dead in our transgressions and sins and because we have turned our back on our Creator, we fully deserve the justice and wrath of God poured out on us. 15. But God. Because of His great love for us, revealed His amazing mercy by sending his perfect, sinless Son to earth to die on the cross in our place. Jesus Christ, who is God in the flesh, received the punishment that we deserved. His hands, which had never committed one single sin, were pierced instead of our hands. His feet, which had never walked outside of the will of God were nailed to the cross instead of our feet which were guilty of walking into evil places. And when Jesus hung on that cross, all of God’s vengeance and wrath that was stored up for us, was poured out on Jesus Christ. When Jesus had drank the very last drop of the cup of God’s wrath, he said “It is finished” and then he died. Jesus bore our sins in his body on that tree, so that we could live. He offered himself as a ransom for many. But the story doesn’t end there. God raised Jesus from the dead and proved he was triumphant over sin and death. 16. And God who has predestined that any who would come to Him in repentance and surrender to His will believing Jesus as the only way to the Father, they would receive eternal life. But for all who reject the Son, and reject this gift of salvation, will stand condemned. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.” Matthew 7:13 says “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Jesus is the gate. He is our only hope. In Matthew 7, Jesus said “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 17. Do you know what God says to the church in the book of Revelations? “I wish that you were either hot or cold, but because you are luke-warm, I will spit you out of my mouth”. Just imagine, in order for me to ride that bike without a front wheel, I have to totally commit. I have to “go for it”. In the same way, God wants our whole-hearted commitment. Jesus calls us to take up our cross and follow him. He doesn’t give us all the details or promise safety and security, he just asks us to trust in him. Are you willing to make that kind of commitment to Jesus? 18. God loves each of us. Just imagine, the very Creator of the entire universe who spoke everything into existence, who holds the temperature of the stars, tells the oceans “this far you shall come and no farther”, has numbered the very hairs on your head and even commands our hearts to beat…that same God has his hand out to you and is saying He loves you. No matter how much you have messed up, God loves you and offers forgiveness through His Son. 19. For many of you, you have made a profession of faith in the past, and might even believe yourself to be saved. But let me ask you this, what kind of fruit are you bearing? 20. If you have truly been saved and changed by God, there will be a significant difference in your life. You will be walking in holiness and will have a burning passion to live for Jesus Christ. 21. If you have truly been converted, then when you stumble and sin (which we all do), God will convict you of that sin and pull you back to Him, the same way a father treats his child. You will be disciplined, but our loving Father will come after you. 22. Being a witness to your friends, neighbors and even strangers will always be on your mind. If you are truly committed to Christ and desiring to put him first in everything you do, then saying “Jesus is Lord” will mean everything to you. 23. Part of my purpose tonight is to light a fire under your seat and get you to examine yourself. Some of you just need a little motivation to be a witness to others instead of being so passive. 24. Maybe some of you are truly passionate about God, but you aren’t sure how your faith plays out into your everyday situations. For you, I just want to encourage you with 1 Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” So if you are passionate about soccer, then do your very best at it, play with integrity and character and take every opportunity to share Jesus with the other players whether they’re on your team or not. If you love to study science, then do so to the glory of God. 25. My wife loves music and comes from a family of musical geniuses. But it wasn’t until three years ago that God revealed to her that she would go to school to study music so that one day she could lead worship. Another thing my wife enjoys is personal fitness training. So she helps people lose weight and at the same time she looks for opportunities to pray with them or just tell them how Jesus changed her life. Some people think she’s nuts but many people are impacted forever. You know I get to do these stunt shows and speak to large groups and share the gospel. But I also get many opportunities to witness to truck drivers one-on-one in the parking lot where I go to practice during the week. Many weeks our service to God consists of changing diapers and serving in the church nursery. My mom gives to those who need water wells in Africa and she always brings joy wherever she goes. Sometimes the best way to share the love of God with someone else is by serving them. Putting their needs before your own. 26. I’m here to tell you that Jesus is either everything or he’s nothing to you. If you reject him, you have rejected your only hope. But if you say you want to live for him, then you have to surrender your life to Him. But this is not a light, casual commitment. He asks for everything. Every dark corner of our lives must be surrendered to Christ. 27. There are some of you here who have been living your life just the way that I lived mine, searching for happiness through other things besides Christ. Don’t waste years of your life searching for something you can only find in Him. Could you bow your heads? If this is you, could you please raise your hand? Please don’t look around at your neighbors. This is between you and God. 28. Please don’t postpone this decision to live for Christ.
